Last week, my Photo Story Friday was all about Princess's Leprechaun Trap!  She took it to school today along with her Leprechaun story.  It really turned out nicely!

If you missed out on how Princess and DadOf 4 made the Leprechaun Trap, click here.

If you want to read a funny Leprechaun-related story, click here.

Princess had a great time painting her Leprechaun trap.  She was trying to decide what to do with the roof and finally just decided to leave it wood-colored.  Then she found some really cute and shiny four leaf clover stickers.
Princess is showing how the Lephrechauns will be retrieved once they have been snared!  The roof lifts off!!

Happy almost St. Patrick's Day!

Photo Story Friday - Princess's Big Leprechaun Project!

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

A little while ago, I told about Princess's next big project at school.  Read about it here if you'd like.  Go ahead and do it - it is actually kind of a funny story!

So, Princess's job in the next week or so is to create a Leprechaun Trap and write a Leprechaun story.  She has been warned that building an effective Leparechaun Trap is not going to be easy. Leprechauns are super wiley little creatures and kind of surly too if I am not mistaken.

But the key word here is little!  DadOf 4 and Princess have been hard at work this week creating an inviting little house for the expected Leprechauns - which, when entered through the front door, will snaps shut and hold those little buggers securely until Princess can retrieve them!

Photo Story Friday - Food Fight!

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

This little 4 year old does not always want to eat.

So, yesterday he and I made a cake.  A lemon cake (his choice) with homemade chocolate icing (my choice!).
To get a piece of cake, all he had to do was to eat one itty bitty little piece of chicken.
(Doesn't he have a GREAT evil eye??)
Yes!  That small!
Where did he go??
At least he ate some bread, but to get the cake, he needs one itty bitty bite of chicken.  (By the way, he LOVES this chicken and declared it his "very favorite thing to eat" the last time we had it.)
Oh!  There he is!
The compromise?

He would eat the chicken if I cut the "crust" off first.  He didn't like the grill marks on the chicken.

Photo Story Friday - Pinewood Derby 2010!

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

My son, the Prince, was so happy to be able to join boy scouts this year!  The boy scouts have a Pinewood Derby every year and for the last couple of weeks, DadOf4 and Prince have been creating the "best pinewood derby car on the face of the earth!!" according to my son!

Prince does not look very happy here but he is really just irritated that I interrupted them from their work!
Progress!  DadOf4 and Prince had fun hanging out together!

My little Knight sat so nicely while the big boys worked!
Happy Boy Scout!
Daddy and son!

Photo Story Friday - New York!

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

My mother turned 70 in April, and the thing she really wanted to do is go to New York City. My sister, my mom, and I had gone with the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines 13 years before and we have such wonderful memories of this trip that we wanted to go again. So, we made reservations at the same hotel we stayed at way back when, booked some shows, and away we went!
Here is the view from our 31st story hotel room. The view is of Times Square.
Mom and me the night we arrived. We were so happy to be together!
Our first stop was to go to the top of the Empire State Building! This little pigeon was just sitting there and made me wonder if he had flown all that way or if he had hitched a ride with the elevator? :)
Empire State Building view of the Statue of Liberty. Without the towers, this is just not the same.

Here is a picture of our tour bus in a very shiny building!

St. Patrick's Cathedral. I love to visit old churches. This one is beyond beautiful. I am holding a medal that my 4 year old gave me so I "would not forget him". I took pictures of it all around town.

Mom, my sister, and me!

We saw Billy Elliot on Broadway. Luckily we purchased our tickets before the Tony's so we didn't have to pay an arm and a leg. We joked that we could probably have sold our tickets for about 3 times what we paid. We were very close to 5th avenue! Ha! The show was amazing. Those kids are scary talented.

Mom and my sister

We saw West Side Story too. Our hotel was the PERFECT location.

Way back when I was in college, I was an RA. One of my former RA pals lives in NYC. He met up with my mom, sister, and me for coffee the day we left.

This was an amzing trip, and New York City felt a lot smaller to me this time around. I have been there several times, but this was the first time I really felt comfortable there.
Happy Birthday Mom!!! Thanks for sharing your birthday with me!!!
