A Nice, Normal Day!

We just had a nice, normal day today. I originally planned to not go to Lifetime Fitness because I wanted to have lunch with the Princess. It turned out that DadOf3 had lunch plans so he could not come home and watch the boys. We will plan another day. The pastor of the church where I attend MOPS invited all of the Steering members to an Appreciation Lunch today. From what I understand, it is quite unusual for a church to be so supportive of the MOPS ministry. We are so very lucky though. The church takes care of paying the childcare workers and this very needed ministry has its own budget through the church. They boys had fun playing with some other kids and (I think) were glad to get out of the house. I know I was glad to do something different that sitting around being sick! Here are some pictures of the boys!
No Barf Is Good Barf!
Well we have been barf free in FamilyOf5 land for 24 hours! And bonus: I got to sleep in my own bed last night instead of camping out on the couch with a sick kid. Yippee!
The Princess went back to school yesterday and was happy to do so.
The Prince was still not quite himself yesterday. His appetite was not back to normal and he didn't have a lot of energy. He is doing better this morning though!
The Knight is back to being his Terribly (cute) Two self. He cracks me up. He wants to do absolutely everything his way. If it even looks like I am helping him, he throws himself on the floor and screams. I just walk away at that point. (Do not negotiate with terrorists.)
Anyway, we are slowly but surely getting back to normal around here. I am doing Monday's laundry today and we didn't make it to lifetime fitness yet this week, but hey! When your kids are sick, your kids are sick. We will start again next week! Although I am hoping to make it to Lifetime Fitness tomorrow. :)

Out of the Barf and into the Gag...
Background: I am only working on about 6 hours of sleep since waking up Sunday morning, so my sense of humor is on overdrive. Plus I have a tendency to laugh at inappropriate moments anyway....
After (literally) catching barf for the past 24 hours, I about gagged from choking back laughter after I got a phone call this morning.
Caller: Hello Festival Liaison, how are you?
Me: Fine. How are you?
Caller: Marvy. Blah blah blah blah. Question?? Question? Blah blah blah.
Me: (choking back laughter and totally inappropriate comments yet answering her questions anyway)
I made it through the phone call...barely. I even seemed reasonably alert, although there were no other witnesses other than my boys yelling "WE WANT ANOTHER SCOOBY DOO!" in the background so I could have easily sounded like a complete idiot.
But MARVY??
Seriously? MARVY??
That one little word just about sent me into a fit of hysterics that I could not have easily explained to someone I had never met. Or maybe even to someone who does know me.
This is just me in my crazy, barf-catching, sleep deprived state. I am sure Marvy is a fine word and any other day it would not have caused this reaction.
Have a Marvy day!

Stomach Flu take 3...
Princess was sick from 12:30AM Sunday night until 7:30AM Monday morning. Needless to say I kept her home from school. She and I were tired to the bone yesterday after having been up all night.
I put all the kids (and myself) down for a nap at 1:00. My poor little Prince woke up at 3:30 with the stomach flu. He was sick from 3:30PM until 10:00PM. He woke up around midnight and 2 but didn't get sick. It has been barf-a-rama here in FamilyOf5Land.
Here's to hoping we are on the mend!

Stomach Flu take 2...
My daughter is sick.
She caught the stomach flu bug that the Knight had on Wednesday night.
She woke up an hour or so ago and woke up her daddy and me. She said that she was sick but didn't want to yell for us so that she wouldn't wake up the boys.
I told her to yell all she wanted next time and I will come running to her!
Poor kiddo....
I hope she understands that she can yell for me whenever she needs me. Her saying that about broke my heart. I am her mommy. If she needs me, she needs to know that I will be there.
She is my little girl, my very first baby.
If she needs me, she can wake up the entire household and I will deal with the repercussions later.
I need to remind all of my kiddos of this.
She has not thrown up for 30 minutes now. That is a record so far tonight.
I wish I could take this away. She started dry heaving because her little tummy has nothing left in it...
A line from a song I used to sing a long time ago keeps replaying in my head:
"Sleep oh my darling now sleep.
Mother her vigil doth keep.
Birds are asleep in their nest.
Lambkins and bees are at rest.
All now is silent and still.
Hushed are the vale and the hill.
Soft be thy slumber and deep,
Sleep oh my darling now sleep.
Sleep,
Oh sleep."

You Make Me Smile!

Yippee! Yahoo! I have been honored with another Blogger Award!
KC over at Mindless Chatter of a Busy Mom bestowed this honor upon me and I have to say that her blog makes me smile too! KC's blog is thought provoking, optimistic, and fun! Check it out! :) I love her Faith-Life Fridays!! :)
This is what the person who created this award says about it- the thing that I love most about blogging is that I learn so much about a person just by reading their blog. I have met MANY wonderful people with wonderful stories to tell, and I am grateful every day for each person that I have the pleasure of crossing paths in life with. I wanted to create something special for the top ten people who have inspired me through their blogging; the stories they tell, and the lives that they lead with grace and dignity. I visit their blogs for inspiration and encouragement. Although there are MANY people I want to give this award to at this very moment, I am going to choose ten bloggers: Please grab your badge and wear it(with a smile) proudly, and pass it on because you inspire and encourage me, thank you. So, now it is my turn to pass it on.
So Now I'll pass it along.
Shana over at My Three Wisemans - your optimism and faith are a daily source of inspiration to me! I visit daily!
Mama Zen at The Zen of Motherhood - your blog is fun, timely, and I look forward to reading you every day!
Julie at Pink Morning - you are my deep thinking blogger friend and I read with anticipation about your life journey.

My birthday was great!
My birthday was yesterday and I had a great day! DadOf3 and I got a sitter and went out to dinner. We try to go on a date once a month, but that does not always happen. In fact, it has been several months since we have gone out, just the two of us. This was a good excuse to do so!
After dinner, we went to the local comedy club. A former player from Saturday Night Live was there. He was funny but a little disappointing. We had just seen him on Comedy Central Presents and he used a lot of the same material. That was taped back in 1998 so he has had a little bit of time to work up some new material. It was fun though! We actually stayed up until after 1:00 - and that is a feat in and of itself for us! Ha ha!
I want to send a Happy Birthday out to DadOf3's mom today!! I hope you have a great day!

Should I Cut the Knight's Hair?

VOTING TIME!!

I am trying out a new feature on blogger: taking a poll!
We are torn between cutting the Knight's hair or letting it keep growing and putting it into a ponytail all of the time.
It really is cute, but he keeps being mistaken for a girl...
Here are some pictures of him with his long hair in a ponytail and after his first haircut at around 16 months old.
Let me know what you think!
Check out my sidebar to VOTE!

Do you ever feel like you have bitten off more than you can chew?
I have, but usually it is because I have volunteered for something big without a clue as to how I am going to get it done. It is a big, overwhelming feeling of "What the **** did I get myself into??" After the initial panic, I usually figure out a way to get whatever it is done.
This time is different.
This time I have taken too many little bites! I am juggling
When I toy with the idea of quitting something, I feel like, well, a quitter, because I should be able to get all of them done.
I think I am still just tired after staying up all night with my sick little Knight on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. He is MUCH better today, thank goodness!
One bite at a time.....One bite at a time....

- being the MOPS secretary,
- being Princess's room parent,
- being Festival Liaison for Princess's school,
- working out at Lifetime fitness, and
- working for the other MOPS group Moppets.

The Flu Bug strikes again...
It has been a crazy few weeks for us since school started. And the saga continues...
I am on my MOPS steering committee and I had a 3 1/2 hour meeting last night. I am not sure why it took so long. Looking back at the notes there were not many things to decide. I called DadOf3 around 10:30 as I was leaving. Not more than 5 minutes after DadOf3 hung up the phone, my little Knight started getting sick. Poor kiddo covered all of his sheets, blankets, and himself with barf. By the time I got home, DadOf3 had thrown him in the bathtub to get cleaned up. I found DadOf3 snuggling him on the couch when I opened the door. Around midnight, I sent DadOf3 to bed. The Knight was throwing up about every half hour, the poor kiddo. He stopped around 3:00 or so but I was up until after 4:00 waiting for it to start again.
This morning he seems fine - and even a little ornery! He ate some chicken pot pie for lunch and drank the 7-Up I gave him. He was chasing Miney and Moe all over the place.
The Prince has been a darling boy helping me take care of the Knight.
